I'll start with a complaint. The instructions are completely useless. There are instructions in the box, but from start to finish they are 100 percent safety warnings, most of which are common to all power tools. Not a single paragraph tells you how to use the random orbital polisher. Luckily, there are plenty of videos on YouTube that will show you what to do. Since none of us had ever done this before, we decided to test it out on my husband's pickup truck. This truck is 22 years old, has a 12 year aftermarket paint job and has been sitting outside under trees that drop shit and a haven for birds that drop more shit for ten years. Oh and black. As you can imagine, this looks bad. Lots of room for improvement, and if we screw it up, who cares? So the first thing we did was take him to the car wash. Nobody suggested this, but it seemed logical that polishing a dirty truck would cause more scratches, right? Then my husband jumped in without consulting YouTube and immediately covered himself in Polish. Of course it was wrong. Here's how it works: Put five penny-sized drops of nail polish on the pad. Then, without turning it on, push it against the stacker several times. Paint like with a sponge. Then turn on the polisher at minimum speed and spread the material in a light film. Then increase the speed and start buffing. Always keep things moving. Don't push too hard, just use the weight of the machine to create the right amount of pressure. It works damn well! We have removed many small stains caused by the rubbing of branches, areas where bird droppings were removed too late and left paint damage etc. Despite our total inexperience, we don't seem to have added any new stains. The truck looks a little less old now. And here is the outstanding result. My husband used it for headlights and it got rid of the old haze! The lights look brighter now. I guess we should go to the auto parts store and find some UV protection for the headlights. Once we are sure that we know all the tricks we will start polishing more beautiful things. But so far so good. We love it!
