Review on Schefs Premium Tea Infuser Stainless by Melissa Richards

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Finally a quality tea infuser

I wanted a GOOD tea infuser but most are flimsy and poorly designed. I then decided that the best way to make two liters of good iced tea is to use loose tea in a glass brewing glass and then strain it straight into the fridge container. I had an inexpensive rectangular glass jar that didn't take up much space in the fridge, so I needed a good tea filter, and this Schefs tea filter fitted the opening perfectly. A warning to Brits and other tea snobs: stop reading immediately. I heat five cups of water with a flat teaspoon of Lipton Yellow Label Loose Tea for eight minutes (almost boiling) and let steep for another 3-5 minutes. Unlike the tea ball, the tea leaves circulate freely and the tea dissolves quickly. Brownian Motion for Victory! I strain the tea through a filter to catch the finely chopped tea leaves and add filtered water to make two liters of tea. This tea filter does an excellent job of filtering. This may be partly because Premium Yellow Label tea (purchased from Revain) doesn't have much dust from the tea leaves that can seep through the tiny holes in the tea filter. My tea is almost completely free of tea leaf sludge and tastes great. I drink it all summer without sugar. Pro tip: If you like lemon in your iced tea, get a KitchenAid blender and a citrus press attachment, buy lemons in bulk, squeeze them, and freeze the juice in ice cube trays. Throw two lemon cubes into the tea filter, pour in the hot tea and the pulp remains in the filter along with the tea leaves. You can also make instant lemonade with a cube of lemon, a tablespoon of sugar, and a glass of water. Stir until lemon melts and add ice. I keep frozen lemon and lime cubes. They're also great for cooking when you need fresh lemon or lime juice.
