I tested it on myself first to make sure the shock wasn't too strong and found it very human. What impressed me the most was that it uses an "escalation system" that starts with small alerts and builds up as the behavior (barking) continues. However, I wouldn't classify the toughest conditions as 'painful', although I have to bear in mind that at 90kg I weigh more than most dogs. Otherwise, the interface was simple and self-explanatory; he was ready to go within ten minutes. The collars that came with it were of good quality and although I had no intention of testing them, the product holds up to any abuse. The only real caveat is that it took some time to make sure the collar was on properly, especially on the dog. Once in place it's pretty stable, but it takes a bit of skill to get it in place. Overall it seems like a solid product, especially for the price.
