I rented a carpet stapler from Home Depot and installed it in about an hour with a little help from my husband at the start to make sure it was even. I took my time, measuring the distance on each side as I walked so as not to stray too far from a straight line. It looks as good as I would hope for a professional install, if I do say so myself. I also avoided all of the brackets in the dark wood except on the top where I had no choice. This will make future removal/replacement much easier. I still have to trim the floor and now I need a new skid because the reds are in conflict, but it's worth knowing that our dog and kids aren't killing themselves by slipping on a wooden ladder.
