I spent a few hours looking for a problem with the signal chain from miniDV to 2019 iMac and I found this out a weak link to the site. I couldn't get Thunderbolt 3 to work through this extension cable, although random testing shows it works for USB-C. It's likely that my setup is an edge case that extends the extension cord's capabilities. I copy files from miniDV to Thunderbolt 2 over Firewire, from there to an expensive Apple Thunderbolt 2-to-3 adapter, and then to an iMac. This coupling works reliably without an extension, but not with one. As the Apple adapter gets warm, it looks like an active device. and that could be a problem. I haven't had a chance to try a simpler configuration without an adapter. That aside, it seems great for less demanding USB-C applications and feels well made with a satisfying feel.
