I use these nuts to make LED lights for my garden and fence. I make fasteners from 3/4" square steel tubing with a hole drilled on one end for wiring and on the other end for a 1" section of hollow threaded rod. I use one of these nuts to secure the threaded rod inside the pipe and the other to tighten the outside of the threaded rod. These nuts have a good sharp fit so you can hold needle nose pliers to thread the nut onto a threaded rod in square tubing.
