Review on Laguiole Aubrac Corkscrew Sommelier Functions by Sharon Triplett

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Garbage. Coated in thick dirty black grease to lubricate every joint and not sharp enough to cut EVERYTHING

What a disappointment! I went through half a roll of paper towels to scrape off all the black grease and I still have black on my hands after using it. Not sharp enough to cut skin let alone foil. At least the cork is sharp. This thing will drive you CRAZY if you buy it. Don't bother either. UPDATE: Returned via Revain and got a replacement - this one is much better, easier to maneuver and less lube. It's still dirty and needs a deep cleaning or you'll have black grease on your hands. This is sloppy and lazy craftsmanship. But it also looks like a different type of lube was used, some of which were clear instead of black. Considering they are handmade I would say be prepared to sacrifice what you get and get a replacement until you are satisfied. Now I'm happy with this replacement even though I spent another hour removing the fat. If it turns your hands black, then it makes no sense as a luxury wine key.
