First of all, this opener works exactly as described and opens most bottles well. Once in a while the cork gets stuck, but that's rare. The clicking sound it makes is annoying after the novelty wears off, and when the cork is wet with wine a little splashing can be heard. The plastic cover catches most splashes, but there's an opening that's too wide to let some splashes through. Without a major downside this would be a solid 4 star rating. However. a real chance that your wine bottle will explode without warning. I read some of the reviews about it and assumed people were vacuuming or misusing the device. It turns out that some wine bottles are defective and break under very little pressure. Most bottles open with 5-6 squeezes and I told my wife never to squeeze too much. The included images passed on the second pump and the wine went everywhere. Big mess. Dirty closets, dirty clothes, ruined items on the counter. A real disaster. This rarely happens, but it can happen to you without warning. A photo shows a white spot on a wine bottle. It was a weak point that was almost invisible from the outside of the bottle.
