A good gift for technology enthusiasts. I already use the Smart Life app, I wanted it because it's pretty cheap, versatile, manages multiple devices easily and I had a dream (read on). A few things to note: My TV brand is a mainstream brand, but oddly it's not on the list of 1000+ manufacturers. The big benefit of this is that it can record and play back IR commands so it can control any IR device, but after I lost the remote for my TV this wasn't an option. Instead, I went through a random (remote brand doesn't matter) but detailed guide to universal TV remotes, found the number codes listed for my 015 TV brand, and then found a brand that uses the same number codes for the remote. Smart Life thinks I own a random MGR TV. But it works fine even though my brand wasn't listed. But I didn't buy it to control my TV, I have a Roomba clone with an IR remote. Since this device is Smart Life compatible, it also works with IFTTT, Alexa, etc. This way I can set Alexa to say "Alexa, release the Kraken!" The IR blaster then activates the room and then starts playing Ride of the Valkyries around the house.
