I bought this shaving oil to use with Dr. carver. Van Der Hagen shaving oil is $2 cheaper than Dr. Comparatively large carvers that I can buy online or from an online shaving club. Van Der Hagen shaving oil smells nicer, which is the first thing I noticed. The product is just as easy to apply, but does not leave a slippery feeling on the skin of the face. This product is very similar to moisturizing body lotions but a little thicker. After application and while shaving, I can say that while Van Der Hagen does the work, Dr. Carver adheres better to the skin and does not wash off as easily. dr Carver about hair removal, but Dr. Carver softens the skin. Whether the additional $2.00 for Dr. Carvers are worth the minimum effort, you have to judge for yourself. I recommend this product and will buy it again, but I will not recommend Dr. Carvers as a staple.
