This guide works very well but the chisel cannot be placed perpendicular to the clamp. The one I received is powder coated and has some imperfections that I had to sand down to allow the plane to sit flat. I would not recommend using this with expensive chisels. I bought it to restore old garden finds and it does the job. If you have expensive sharpening tools, find the best sharpening guide to make your tools better. However, it's still better than trying to sharpen by hand.
