Great machine for us home projecters.

I wanted a plasma cutter for my next Mustang project. I checked a lot and decided on Lotos LTP5000D. I needed a pilot arc function and this is a 50 amp dual voltage machine meant to cut 1/2 inch. I have read many reviews and also looked at some articles in online welding publications. The "out" most often lists the best value for money or the best performance of an inexpensive machine. It's time to take a risk, so I bought a car. Before using it, I watched some unboxing and first use videos on YouTube. Cable, most likely because its ground position has not been erased where it was plugged in. I pretty much agree with the comments on the videos I've watched. The car is small and light, which is good. The power and ground wires are too short. After speaking to an electrician, I purchased 25ft of 10-3 SOOW wire to make a new power cord. I have 220v in my garage so I also had to replace the twist and lock plug that came with the machine. Extra about $75 far off but it suits me, in the future I plan to replace the ground wire. My first test was significant. I found a 5 x 5 3/8 thick 14 foot long box beam at a junkyard that I will be using to make a frame table for a Mustang project. I wanted to cut it in half lengthways to make two C-beams. The little wire stopper attached to the torch to keep the tip from working is not very effective. I made a slide out of 1-1/2" square tubing that allows the torch tip to stay about 1/8" off the work surface and slide along a straight edge. I set the air pressure to the recommended 75psi and started the amp at 35. I ended up increasing the pressure to about 85 and the amp to 50. I'm new to plasma cutting so it takes a little getting used to about 20 minutes per side. Cutting was within my power. Moving too fast forms slag. I grounded the grate off the ground and the ground wire never got hot. The longer power cord worked well too. Overall I think it's a good machine for the money for what I need it n or I wanted to pay $1500 or more. I also bought some additional consumables. A 40-piece set costs just under $100. I've heard some people say they could find this on other sites like Newegg for less than $400, but in Hawaii, Revain's free shipping is a steal.
