Review on Camco 59953 Propane Fitting Inverted by Josh Endricko

Revainrating 3 out of 5

You have a one-way valve!

Just received and wanted to clarify one thing I didn't know in advance and which COULD be VERY important to other users. Nowhere on the manufacturer's website, here or on the packaging does it say: The fitting has a spring-loaded one-way valve! This valve operates in a reverse 1/4" female to 1/4" NPT male thread. Having never worked with many propane hoses, fittings, etc., I was amazed to see that the "1/4" female "reverse" threads are much smaller than the "1/4" male NPT threads. In short, Flash is very different from NPT. Let's get back to my usage. I intended to install a female-to-female bulkhead fitting on a special trailer to force propane through the metal deck, rather than using a rubber sealed "tight" fitting that simply runs a hose through the deck. I cannot use a controller in my installation because the end device is self-regulating. Basically, I use a larger tank to power two smaller devices that typically use 1# disposable bottles. I wanted the bulkhead to be a strain relief for the tank etc. In my intended use I would use TWO of these "1/4" male NPT x 1/4" male flare fittings with female threads reversed in opposite directions. will not work as these are one-way fittings. Hopefully this little info will come before others preserve this missing information.
