Review on Benfei Adapter Supports Compatible Drive by Cris Drew

Pretty simple, well made, fits Raspberry Pi

If you've always wondered why you need to put a SATA SSD with its own enclosure into *another* enclosure to use it as a USB drive. Well there are reasons as extra armor is always good and early SATA SSDs can get hotter than today's. Breaking the SATA pins on the SSD creates a lot more chaos than breaking the extra USB port on the case. So true. But it's pretty safe these days to just plug it directly into a SATA SSD as they're very lightweight and don't put too much stress on the SATA connector. This also works with hard drives, although you have to be a little more careful here, since the hard drive is of course heavier and more susceptible to falls or loads on the SATA port. However, it doesn't matter. This works great with a Rapsberry Pi 4 that can boot from SATA or simply if you want to have a large/home volume. Switching from SD card to SATA on PI is like switching from HDD to SSD, it's worth it.

Pros
  • CONNECT ANYWHERE: The USB-C to HDD adapter is a portable solution that fits conveniently in your laptop bag and doesn't require an external power supply.
Cons
  • I don't remember
