Just doesn't work, stick with StarTech.

I mostly just buy StarTech adapters. They make the best, most reliable eSATA adapters you can buy. I decided to look for something different and something cheaper and I got what I paid for, something that doesn't work at all. Neither cable I bought from this seller worked. My 2018 Mac Mini and Dell XPS did not handshake on either port. And yes, I've tested both Disk Utilities on my Mac and Disk Management on Windows - I didn't like either. I can only conclude that they are defective. It's…

perfect plug and play

I took an unformatted internal drive for my laptop and connected it to my linux machine with this cable. The system recognized it immediately. So easy! I then used some linux tools (gparted, dd) to mirror my current laptop drive to this one. Excellent! I really like the product because it only does one thing and does it very well. When plugged into a mini-SATA port, it feels like a solid connection, not a weak one. The cable is fairly short (6 inches) so you should have room for a SATA drive…

Easy to use good for SATA cable

Bought to transfer files from laptop SSD to PC hard drive so I can reuse the SSD in a new laptop and I had to install an operating system on an SSD. It was very easy to use. It just plugged one end into a hard drive and then into a USB port on my PC. It took a little while for the PC to read the HD (larger than a regular USB drive) and show it as a new USB drive, but then I was able to just copy/cut/paste the files to my PC and reformat the drive. (like a USB stick). It made this SSD look like…

Excellent USB to SATA Adapter

This is very useful for replacing hard drives and cloning them with Clonezilla software, a free computer application for hard drive cloning, disk imaging, data recovery and deployment. The speeds achieved with the adapter are as fast as your USB port can handle. If you have Super Speed USB 3.0 (USB port in blue), it can reach its maximum speed. I'm happy to see and confirm that it also supports USB Attached SCSI Protocol (UASP). UAS depends on the USB protocol used and uses the standard SCSI…

Great for my broken compact external drive

last long, sometimes they shit me - ie you stick it in, there is no light, the disk is dead. I recently found out that it is mostly due to bad contacts/a blown tiny fuse in the socket inside the case. Youtube shows several ways to fix it with delicate soldering (a skill which is well over my paycheck. But when I removed the little circuit board, I noticed that there's a SATA connector on the other end. Of course it looks like it.) So I trimmed the case a bit to accommodate the Fully uncover…

Excellent Cable, the best in Computer Accessories & Peripherals

I replaced the hard drive with an SSD in my old MacBook Pro and had to connect the old hard drive via USB. I have a portable USB drive, there have been many of those, but I wanted something that wouldn't wear out or break as easily as these portable hard drive cases. The plug port always fails with frequent use. The drive itself is fine, but the case's USB port just fails. So I figured if I could find a cable that didn't require a case maybe it would last longer and I'd have fewer problems with

Pretty simple, well made, fits Raspberry Pi

If you've always wondered why you need to put a SATA SSD with its own enclosure into *another* enclosure to use it as a USB drive. Well there are reasons as extra armor is always good and early SATA SSDs can get hotter than today's. Breaking the SATA pins on the SSD creates a lot more chaos than breaking the extra USB port on the case. So true. But it's pretty safe these days to just plug it directly into a SATA SSD as they're very lightweight and don't put too much stress on the SATA…
