I replaced the hard drive with an SSD in my old MacBook Pro and had to connect the old hard drive via USB. I have a portable USB drive, there have been many of those, but I wanted something that wouldn't wear out or break as easily as these portable hard drive cases. The plug port always fails with frequent use. The drive itself is fine, but the case's USB port just fails. So I figured if I could find a cable that didn't require a case maybe it would last longer and I'd have fewer problems with it. This cable is quite suitable for this workpiece. It connects directly to the laptop's hard drive and USB port. Not transferred from laptop to micro USB port interface and then to SATA. With a micro USB connector there should be less wear and tear and no crashes. The quality of the cable itself is quite good. It must withstand time and constant use. The cable itself is thick and strong. It's not too long, but it's a decent length. It's definitely worth it!
