Review on πŸŽ₯ Amcrest AWC195-B: 1080P Webcam with Mic for Desktop - HD USB Web Camera with Privacy Cover, Wide Angle Lens & Superior Low Light Performance by David Boone

Revainrating 4 out of 5

One of the most reliable and user-friendly webcams I've used in a while.

Overall, this is one of the cheapest webcams I've used. So much so that I had trouble formulating thoughts about the camera. For starters, setting up the AWC195-B was painless. The device works (and thrives) with standard Windows USB camera drivers. This makes installation almost instantaneous. The device is instantly available for programs like OBS, Discord, Hangouts, Facebook video, etc. For this test, I first tested the camera under OBS (Open Broadcasting Software) streaming with full 1080P resolution. I recorded almost 48 hours of streaming time on this camera. Audio and video loss problems are fully encountered in this device. As mentioned above, I've logged about 48 hours of continuous use of the AWC195-B. The frame rate remains smooth and stable on my connection. The built-in light sensitivity levels of the device leave nothing to be desired. This webcam works great in both low light (and overly bright light!). I'm not entirely sure what sensors Amcrest uses for this camera, but it adapts seamlessly and instantly to the changes above. The built-in microphone has a reliable and clear sound. While I prefer to use studio recording gear during my streaming sessions, I've spent quite a bit of time streaming and gaming exclusively with a webcam mic. I didn't have any understanding problems either in game or on the air. The privacy cover deserves its own section. The lid is a snap-on plastic piece with a smooth and easy motion on the flap for privacy. It's easy to remove completely if you don't like the way it looks, and just as easy to reinstall if you're concerned about your privacy. I personally like the look of the protective cover when open. The adjustable mounting clip works just as well, if not better than the mounting clip on the Logitech C920. While I've had many problems mounting the C920 on my monitor at odd angles (the arm is often too loose and easily loses its position), the AWC195-B mounting clamp is able to work in a variety of seemingly gravity-defying positions . I currently have my webcam (pretty sure!) tilted to one side, mounted at the very edge of my monitor. An angle that the C920 absolutely cannot handle on its own. Overall, I am convinced of the overall package. Video quality, audio quality, customizability and ease of use. This camera is a bargain at the current price and Amcrest has done a great job of ensuring the device is affordable at a time when other manufacturers are struggling to keep up with demand. I definitely recommend this camera to both professionals and amateurs.
