The handle is not attached to the bottom so you have some slack if you throw away the old blades. The lid is not the same as on previous versions of Bodum presses and it is very difficult to tell when the spout is aligned to actually pour the coffee. I can't tell you how many times I dripped coffee because I aligned the pouring grid with the handle and not the spout. pain in $$! I miss old Bodum so much but I can't seem to find a replacement carafe! That sucks!
