Review on Marples M44414N Woodworking Chisel - Premium Quality Tools for All Your Woodworking Needs by Cameron Novak

When I bought this chisel I expected to get what is pictured. Unfortunately the bit has been redesigned and for some reason the manufacturer has kept the old part numbers. I'm at a loss as to what kind of bit you're going to get. I didn't like the new style, it tapers from the end of the hammer to the blade. This design is fine if you're just hitting with chisels, but it's hard to hold onto when trying to make sharp cuts. Your hands slide towards the blade, you can't hold it tight enough. If the handle style is important, you may need to contact the seller to confirm which style you will receive. My solution was to buy a set of Marples 4 chisels, they were old style handles. These chisels proved sharp enough for most jobs, but before using them I added a quick sharpening and leveled the back. I like the Marple chisels as shown in the picture.
