When is a belt not a belt?

I'm looking at the reviews on here and I see a lot of good reviews. So maybe it's *me* something. but, ok, let me explain. See I'm a big fat hunk. Now the only way I can go outside without committing a public indecency is to wear loose pants that sag just enough for me to walk without tearing and then wear a tight belt to support them. The last strap broke, I spent some time finding my size in a strap style that looked durable, and...if I paid attention to how that strap would look when I actually tried to put it on, I would keep looking. The problem with this is the no-hole design. It seems interesting and innovative, but it's weird. A traditional strap has some of the metal going through it, meaning the system stays closed until something breaks. It is fully functional! With this design, the buckle doesn't even close all the way. He just hugs the leather piece and politely offers to stay there if it's not a big deal, but then it runs parallel to the real skin so the skin just slides right underneath. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but it looks like this thing can't hold together then it doesn't meet a basic requirement for a belt. And then is it even a belt?
