Wow I'm so pleasantly surprised it worked! I set an amethyst cabochon into a sterling silver ring band that I made, scratching the sides of the stone. Due to the high cost and the fact that it was already installed I didn't want to mess up the ring by removing it or starting over! I bought this because I heard that cerium oxide can remove scratches on some flexible stemmed gemstones. . I went through it 3 times with cerium oxide on a hard wool felt circle. Then I went over it again on a soft wool felt circle. After cleaning I couldn't believe the scratch was ever there! Like new and it didn't damage the silver either! I highly recommend this material. Glad to have it on hand in case I ever scratch another rock. Good product! I forgot to take a before photo but will try to attach a photo of a pristine amethyst after cerium oxide polishing.
