I used them for herbal teas that I grew/harvested in the yard. These are small tea bags but I grind the larger pieces of herbs in the spice grinder which I keep for this purpose. I have found that grinding is the best way to get a good lemongrass flavor in tea and it works great for small tea bags too. It is made of a cloth-like material that is soft and flexible and leaves no odor. like the paper tea bags I've bought before. After filling and stretching the string, I wrap the string around the "neck" of the tea bag several times to keep the little bits of herb from falling out. quickly benefit from the herbs and then let the tea stand if you let it drain briefly. I definitely plan to buy them again in the future. I've started giving away my teas to friends so I expect there will be a lot of them.
