This is an updated filter for another CFF25 model. I've used both but use this one for everyday use (I keep the cheaper CFF25 to use to fill water storage tanks during hurricane season). This filter works well and I often re-filter it when I fill up my Waterdrop Elfin jug to make sure it's very clean. When changing the filter, according to the instructions, run 5 gallons through the system before use, but I've found that even with 5 gallons in a row, there is still some color change. So I do the following: turn on the filter and let the coal run out. Then: I SLOWLY RUN 3 gallons (12 x 16 oz cans), then wait at least 10 minutes and add another gallon (4 cans), then wait another 10 minutes or more and run the last gallon through the system. This will normally clean the water, but be aware that when the filter is brand new it may need to run for a few seconds before filling the glass to remove the tan. That doesn't mean it's toxic - it just doesn't always look crystal clear right after the first 5 gallons. I highly recommend these filters.
