Is there a reward for failure?

For mounting a bow mounted trolling motor. Drilled 1/2 holes, put in 1/2" holes, attached the trolling mount, added screws, tightened snugly to feel solid, and went fishing. Just a 55# trolling motor for fishing in Grand Traverse Bay. Waves were 2-3' with a light breeze. At the end of the day, the entire device switched at full power when switched on. Don't worry, I just re-tightened it and everything was tight again. Conditions on the next voyage were similar, and the same thing happened. .dressed again. Then for the third time that same week, this time pulling multiple shafts and force up through the back of the bracket, pulling half the bolts up, the corrugated nut 'nut' came loose from the rubber boot. I have two such sets, one of which should be on hand as an extra, the same thing happened to that extra set. So I ran out of $28. I just got a bad batch?
