I was trying to dye some of the white fleece I needed to make the belly, arms and ears of a Sonic the Hedgehog costume for my son. I couldn't find the right color in fabric stores and read that fleece can be dyed with synthetic dyes. Enter Rit Daimore. Well it was crap. I bought the sandstone color as it was the closest tan/camel color I could find and figured it would do the job well. I spent an hour trying to get it right. To be honest, after the first half hour I realized my burner had gone out and the water had cooled. When I pulled out a piece of fabric with pliers and allowed some of the liquid to drip off, I could see that the paint had almost completely soaked in. So I reheated it to a boil and left for another half hour. He turned yellow. It's hard to tell from the photo, but it's very mustard. Out of curiosity, I added a white cotton disposable shirt that I planned to dye using one of their regular dyes. It took on color almost immediately, turning out to be something on the verge of beige-pink. The only reason I'm not giving that one star is because I can't tell how much my temperature snuff could have changed the outcome. but it doesn't look like it's too far. Aggravating.
