We have well water at home, and unfiltered it smells of sulphur. When we moved in, the drinking water was "softened water" which was then filtered through a reverse osmosis system. RO is great for filtration, but we wanted to avoid the waste water associated with reverse osmosis systems (3-4 gallons are wasted for every 1 gallon of clean water produced). If you've ever brewed coffee with reverse osmosis water, then you know how awful it tastes! I bought a new 10 inch three stage water filter housing and these filters. these iSpring F3 filters. I have not used a water softener and have run our drinking water through these filters. The water was amazing. After 2 months I noticed the sulfur smell returning. At a risk I took the unnamed filters that came with the water filter housing and it made no difference, the water still smelled awful. I bought bottled water and met Revain Prime. I ordered another set of iSpring F3 filters and put them in the filter housing, drained the water to clear the lines and I was back to clean, odorless water. The filter here is a carbon block filter since the unnamed filter looked exactly the same. I like the charcoal block on the outside, but when I looked inside the filter I found charcoal in a mesh bag (sneaky). bill" because I'm not paying for the well water.
