It really helps to protect our sofa from dog hair, dirty paw and so on. The medium size is suitable for a chair or a cushion on a sofa or loveseat. My husband and I use the open area. Bolster prevents the dog from leaning on the backrest of the sofa. It is made of quilted micro suede. It has straps to keep it in place but I don't need them as it stays in place (although it could be on leather). Washing is easy. The roll has zips to remove the foam and I toss it in the washing machine then hang to dry. When company comes I can just take it and throw it in the laundry and I have a nice clean sofa. For us, this is much better than covering the entire piece of furniture.
