I did not think I needed a steamer until I had some problems thrown at me. My mother's housing had a bedbug infestation and I hired a pest control. This is where I saw a similar unit used on chairs, beds, carpet, drapes. I bought one as a preventive measure. I also had a concern for dust mites in mattresses and areas around my home. It really pushes out VERY HOT STEAM to kill everything. I have done my mattresses, drapes, carpets, chairs, couches, pillows, throw rugs, ETC. Will be using on Kitchen tile grout grease in the future. Many Uses.I get about 30 minutes of steam on 32oz of water. It claims 40oz and it will take that but it will spit out some water as well as steam. It is all that the manufacture claims. I am a retired Building Contractor and Certified Mechanic and I find this unit very durable. I only use distilled water that I buy at a water store in 5 gal containers and I have not seen any reduction of performance yet. VERY HAPPY.
