I've been looking for a new range finder for bow hunting for a long time. I've looked at many different brands in stores and played with some that my friends own, all in the $200+ price range. I didn't want to skimp because I wanted something that would work, work well, and last a long time. After picking up a $230 model at a sporting goods store, I took the Revain out to take a closer look. I found this for almost exactly $100 and after reading the reviews thought I'd give it a try and save some money. If it didn't work properly I could always return it. To my great surprise, I found nothing wrong with it. It's not the most powerful rangefinder out there, but I still give it 5 stars because not only does it do what it says it does, but it does so at a significantly lower price point than most others in its class. When I bought it I knew how far it could go on certain objects and it does exactly what it says on the tin. It deserves 5 stars. After playing with it almost continuously for several days, I came to the following conclusions. The first thing I noticed is that anything less than 5 meters away is not read. Again it was said in the description so I was expecting it. It is in order; I don't need it for objects in range. Before testing it, I carefully measured 20 meters and placed my archery target. Using a range finder, I got a reading of exactly 20 yards. Brilliant. Since then I've been setting the target at intervals of 10 to 60 yards. At 4x magnification I can let go of the arrow and use the range finder to see where it hits better. It is also pretty. I'm fine with 4x although some might need more. The rangefinder itself is small and compact, weighing almost nothing. It fits my hand well and feels comfortable in my hand. The build quality is excellent. Nothing flimsy or cheap feel. The battery cover is held in place by a small flat-head screw that's easy to remove with a wrench, butter knife, or even a screwdriver. Objects that are further away require a longer hold of the button. About a full second, not just a quick click. I shot at 400 meters without any problems, only at trees and houses. I would have gone further, but that's about as much space as I've had so far, and I don't need that much to hunt with a bow. Maybe 80 meters at most, but 50 or 60 is more reasonable. The tilt technology is also a nice feature, especially at this price point. Many other more expensive models don't have this feature so I'm very happy with it. There is also a battery level indicator on the display screen, which is convenient. I thought it was worth mentioning because it might be a selling point for some. There really isn't much more to say about it. It tells you how far away the object is and tells you the true horizontal distance when you're at a tilt angle. For a hundred bucks, this is one of the best range finders you can find. I can wear it on my belt in the pretty pouch that comes with it, or attach a lanyard (not included) to wear around my neck while hunting. It is compact and very light, so you hardly have to take it with you. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. I would highly recommend this range finder to anyone especially if you are looking to save some money. So you don't sacrifice quality.
