Review on πŸ”§ Dernord Stainless Threaded Hydraulics, Pneumatics & Plumbing: Optimal Cleaning Patterns for Effective Maintenance by Jeff Aulia

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very well built but needs a strong pump to run it

This thing appears to be very well built including solid stainless steel and roller bearings inside so it spins very smoothly. I've tried using this with the fountain pump that came with my Mark's keg washer, but the pump just doesn't have enough pressure to spin it very well. It spins and "coats" the inside of the keg or fermentor with cleaning solution, but it doesn't really have the power to "scrape" the solids. I will buy a more powerful pump and update this review once I have a satisfactory solution. UPDATE: I bought a 1/3 HP submersible pump. and wow, the difference is amazing. Combined with a large pump, this CIP spray ball really creates a spray. I sat in the driveway and checked both pumps. Using a Marks Keg Washer pump it sprayed about 2-3 feet easily. With a large pump, it produces powerful spray up to 8-9 feet. Here is the pump I purchased: Superior Pump 91330 1/3 HP Thermoplastic Submersible Pump It took a lot of effort to find all the adapters to change the 1-1/4" NPT fitting on the pump to the 1/ 2" NPT connection reduce on this ball. but it was worth it. I think you can probably get away with a 1/4 or 1/5 hp version of this pump.
