Cable works great out of the box. Other brands did the same before dying after a short period of use. However, this one looks a bit more reliable. The length is good. It stays in my car when the iPod is brought into the house, so it's plugged in and unplugged almost every day. The original Apple cable, which lasted many years, was more flexible. It also had small release buttons that had to be pressed on either side before unplugging it from the iPod. None of the replacement units had this feature and this is what causes the case to eventually detach from the cable. It also has no unlock button. That's why the rating is only 4 stars. I'll try to remember to update it later and let you know how long it will take.
