Too big for a one year old unless he is very big.
The reach from the seat to the pedals is too long for a one year old. I bought this for a two year old and she is still about 1.5 to 2 inches shorter than her leg can reach. Otherwise, it makes a well-made and solid impression. It tips over when the driver tries to make sharp turns (4 you drive it).
