Removing the old valve was the hardest

I was having a really hard time getting the nut off the old valve I was removing. The white plastic wrench provided with this kit is very handy for installing a new valve, but not strong enough to remove the nut on the old valve (I could see the plastic wrench starting to wear/fail at the connection). After much frustration, at the recommendation of several other reviewers, I very carefully cut off the old nut with a rotary tool. After the old device was turned off, installing the new one was very easy. Full Disclosure - I bought this new valve after trying to replace just the gasket on the old one. When it continued to leak I decided to replace the entire valve. After removing the old valve and comparing it to the new one, I found that I hadn't tightened the nut on the top of the valve enough to compress the seal between the top and bottom. The instructions say to just tighten until it clicks, but there was a gap between the top and bottom that I couldn't see from the top of the tank. Unfortunately, I already cut off the old nut, so I immediately replaced the entire valve. I'll know better next time.
