Hell when replacing toilet parts.

After 3 months of using this flush valve I can say that it flushes very well. BUT the problem is that the water in the toilet bowl flows into the toilet bowl under the flush valve cover. This means that in my case the tank is filled about every 30 minutes. That's a big waste of water, very annoying, not what a valve is supposed to do! Since the original flush valve broke after a few years, I'm not sure the US standard parts are reliable. Also, I just called customer service and AS said they…

Don't forget the ring!

It resets as expected! No surprises. The design of the toilet did not allow me to replace it myself. I used to replace a few toilet valves, so what should have been an affordable project ended up being two days off work and plumbing. The kit does not include a ring (which needs to be replaced if you remove the cistern from the toilet seat). Since I told the plumber I had ordered a replacement valve, he assumed I had the entire assembly!) The plumber came and I ran to the nearest hardware store…

Removing the old valve was the hardest

I was having a really hard time getting the nut off the old valve I was removing. The white plastic wrench provided with this kit is very handy for installing a new valve, but not strong enough to remove the nut on the old valve (I could see the plastic wrench starting to wear/fail at the connection). After much frustration, at the recommendation of several other reviewers, I very carefully cut off the old nut with a rotary tool. After the old device was turned off, installing the new one was…

Good product but look at the ring

This product is pretty easy to install and you can find youtube videos showing how to do it. One caveat is that rings go bad pretty quickly from what I've read online. My water bill went up every month and it turned out to be caused by these rings (I have two toilets of this model). In the photo, the ring on the right is old and you can see it fading and bubbling in the water. These sacs swell like bubbles and then cause the valve to open and allow water to seep through. If you don't think…

Be careful of under or over tightening the gray gasket.

Installed this afternoon with a new fill valve and new tank to bowl kit (we had a 2-3 second "ghost flush" about every 20 minutes). Tested when finished: rinses well and doesn't leak. After a few hours I checked: dry. Checked again after a few hours: dry. Check before bed: the water is wet and slowly dripping from the tank into the bowl seal. The new green seal was literally drenched in sweat. Read a few reviews that said the gray rubber gasket on the new block was the culprit and reuse the old

Dismantling of the toilet required!

For removal and installation, the cistern must be removed from the toilet. This means you have to drain the tank, disconnect the lines and unscrew the 2 large bolts at the bottom of the tank. It is helpful to have an assistant to hold the screws on the bottom of the tank and requires space for two people to work together. directs the water jet downwards to increase the flushing performance that these toilets are known for. I was able to remove the deflector from the broken purge valve and put…

Rating updated. suitable for rough installations

We have an old 4" American Standard Champion toilet with what I'm sure is the original flush (a tall white plastic column that went up when you flushed the toilet). This block is a replacement for white center pillar blocks. American Standard no longer replaces gaskets on older flush valves. This block took approximately 40 minutes to install and ran with no problems or leaks. We will be monitoring it closely for a couple of days to ensure there are no leaks started. The old block flushed with…
