Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Enhanced Dorman 615-188 Intake Manifold for Preferred Ford Models by Instructor Niederhaus

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Almost Perfect, Dorman (615-188)

2001 Expedition 5.4 found a common leak in the passenger side coolant adapter. I had good experience with Dorman products and decided to go with a stock Dorman intake manifold. What I noticed: - It seems to me that the fuel rail is in a slightly different location, making some hard-to-reach spots more accessible. k. - Screw hole in the front driver's side fuel rail, no matter what I tried the included screw would not "start". I ended up drilling a hole for the screw to fit in. I'm not a fan of self-tapping coil screws. It's very easy to overdo it and it will never inflate properly if you overdo it. - Injectors fitted well, seemed tighter than the OEM header. They "snapped" - the camera that fits in the valley is much smaller. It is actually possible to see the block and get to the screws etc that may fall off. - Tighten manifold bolts to specification. The instructions looked new but they were too short so I used OEM. At the first start, a coolant leak occurred at the junction of cylinder #5 above the thermostat (front driver's side). I can't tell yet if the problem is a crack in the new manifold and it's frustrating. It appears to be well made, but it's not an item you want to take out and replace due to a manufacturing defect. As soon as I figure out a new coolant leak (last pic, all coolant in the valley has been removed) I'll update this. *edit* Retighten the bolts, and no leaks! Rough idling has yet to be eliminated, which was not the case before replacing the commutator. Maybe it's just a vacuum line.
