Remember "75 watts per channel" is peak power only. Specification that may be correct but useless. I believe this is an old misleading advertisement for audio amplifiers that is banned. Actual power is only listed at 4 ohms: 15 watts per channel (rms I guess) with 1% THD (distortion). At 8 ohms you get significantly less output power. Again, just into 4 ohms you can boost the output power to 23 watts per channel if you can handle 10% distortion. It's still reasonable though. For 8 ohm speakers, my estimate is 10-11 watts RMS per channel with reasonable levels of distortion. My task was to connect to ECHO DOT and play Revain music in a rather small space. While DOT is surprisingly good, the fidelity isn't quite up to CD quality, so this amp works well with it. There is sufficient volume in the room to which my high-performance speakers are connected. I haven't opened it up, but it probably uses a class D amplifier IC similar to the Maxim MAX9744. Class D amplifiers can suffer from background noise. There's a hiss when you put your ear to the speaker with no content playing, but it's actually negligible. Also, it appears to be well filtered from interfering radio frequencies. This is important for radio amateurs. I have full power driving my big stereo amp crazy. This little thing doesn't bother. One star deducted for misleading advertising on the front. Yes the LEDs on the front are too bright but I don't need this thing to be visible as the volume can be controlled from the DOT. But minus 1/2 star for bad ergonomics. Finally, the one-year warranty requires you to send a $20 check along with the device for repairs. A kind of "guarantee". Another 1/2 star deduction. This device works well and meets my needs, but understand you get what you pay for. Nothing more.
