Review on πŸ”§ ALLOSUN EM3085A (Upgraded) Pocket Size Digital Multimeter: Advanced Testing Tool for DC/AC Voltage, Current, NCV, Ohm, Capacitance, Frequency, Diode, and Continuity Test - Auto Range by David Epps

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Small enough for your pocket, cheap enough for the glove compartment, strong enough for the tank bag

First of all, the claim in the product description that this is the size of a business card is an exaggeration. All-Sun should drop that statement, it's not doing them any favours. However, this DMM is *tiny*. It's probably smaller than your phone, but if it is, it's probably thicker too, so it balances out. Importantly, it's small enough, *tough* enough, and *cheap* enough that you can buy it for any of your cars and just pop it in the glove box (or in the tank on a motorcycle). pocket or under the seat) and forget it until you need it, and the day you need it, it's there. The test leads are hidden in the clamshell case, which also serves as a stand. The EM3081 features AC voltage, DC current, resistance and diode continuity modes and operates up to 600VAC/DC and 2MΞ©. Current measurement mode melts at 200mA. The rotary mode switch is easy to use (remember to turn it off after use so you don't drain the two silver oxide cells it powers) and the LCD is large, clear, and easy to read. (It doesn't have a backlight, though. If you're troubleshooting roadsides at night, you'll need a flashlight. But you still won't troubleshoot at night without a good flashlight.) Long and short: if you know what to do with a DMM , you can do a lot worse than just have one of these in every car you own. Sixteen dollars can save you from getting stuck or calling a tow truck. Two tech bandits support the EM3081. It's not a Fluke, but it's all you need for on-the-go troubleshooting.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • It's OK
