Review on Crosley CR3501A-WA Fleetwood Bluetooth FM Clock Radio and CD Player in Walnut: The Perfect Blend of Vintage Charm and Modern Functionality by Chris Pollreisz

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Basically a good looking unit

I really like this radio - the sound quality is superb to my ears, the radio reception is just great using just the factory installed antenna. The main reason I chose this Crosley model is that I still enjoy listening to my CDs, which I can do now, as does a radio and Bluetooth. All of this in a sleek package for less than $150. Really very good Now two more reasons why I only gave four stars instead of five. 1) Yes, the controls are difficult to read, ie small for those of us with older eyes. Same for the remote control. My answer to this dilemma was to remember which buttons on the receiver and remote did what — or put on glasses. 2) Clocks sometimes change at seemingly random times. For example, it's 9 am, I turn on the radio to listen to the local news, everything is fine. Then at 10am I switch to Bluetooth to listen to a radio station in a different time zone - often BBC radio (listen live) in the UK, eight hours ahead of my time zone. Turning off the Bluetooth radio can (although not always) the clock jump to GMT, setting it back to eight hours ahead of my time zone! It's an interesting random "quirk" but not a problem for me since I don't use this radio/CD/Bluetooth as an alarm clock.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Only available in black
