You can use a pencil case but the zip WILL TEAR. I was just trying to open it to sharpen my daughter's pencils for her first day of school and the plastic parts of the zipper started curling up and when I tried to fix it she wanted to snap. Can school supplies be stored? Yes. But I prefer to zip up the kindergarten pencil case so I don't have to worry about makers and crayons staining her book bag.
