Review on πŸ”Œ AmazonBasics SJTW Heavy Duty Lighted Extension: Superior Quality for Your Electrical Needs by Ben Diesel

Revainrating 2 out of 5

50/50 One glowed and the other didn't. First.

The first thing I did out of the box was wire them up to make sure they worked properly. One started fine, the other didn't. I was willing to give a bad review. But I wanted to see if it conducts electricity even if it's not on fire. They spent the night in a very cold garage. I left the worker on all the time to see if the light was on and it was still on when I went out to check on them. I took my work lamp to test the power of the dead. When I plugged the cord into the outlet, it suddenly caught fire. Hmm, curious. I've since brought her inside and put her back in the warmth of the house. And I'm waiting for them to warm up and see if they both keep working. They appear to be well built and have a nice thick cable to carry plenty of juice. That makes them pretty tough, but that's the nature of the 12AWG beast. The wire needs to be to pass more power and current through it. I'm concerned about the shaped ends of the connectors. And while writing this review I went in and checked them out and the light on one of them didn't come back on. I connected a light to it and the indicator lit up again. But when I pulled out the light, it didn't work again. If I partially inserted the plug into the outlet, it would turn on, but the power light in the cord would not light up until I fully inserted it into the outlet. at the ends. They are weather shaped and there is nothing you can do about such problems as you cannot get to the connectors to fix them. A failure of the fork ends is to be expected. Especially the end with the light in it as that shows signs of poor wiring out of the box. I expect it to melt and hopefully fail completely before it becomes a fire hazard. My star rating jumped up and down during this review. But I've chosen the one I'm finally leaving. I've hooked up an energy monitor to the sump pump's plug to monitor the energy I'm using when it's running as it doesn't seem to be running out much. Now that winter has come the pace has slowed as everything is frozen outside. In this setup with two separate monitors, the monitor turns off, but otherwise they work fine. Wherever they work, they consume about a watt of electricity whenever the device connected to them is in standby mode. The drain pump doesn't. It resets to an hour or more between cycles. I thought the power monitor might turn off since the monitor is not in use. These lighted wires have a constant low power to light the display and I thought this might solve the problem by keeping the power monitor on. But if the display is off, then it doesn't work. In my experience I have no choice but to give this product a low rating as it should work fine for a brand new item. It's like they are quality check failed items that are sold at a lower price as is. I want a word of caution to make sure they are working properly before connecting them to high current conditions.
