Expensive + Software doesn't work

Bought to see if my indoor air quality efforts are working. Good things: - Packing and unpacking is great. The quality corresponds to the iPhone when unpacked. The iPhone app was pretty easy to set up and looks great. Cons: Very expensive. Must be plugged into an outlet to stay powered on. Promotional photos are misleading. The software did not track historical data. I was looking for a product that would track each metric over time and allow me to visualize them on a graph so I can see how air quality is changing over time and in response to different activities in the home. The iPhone app has historical data charts that look like they should, but they don't update. No screen displays all the information I want to track at once. You can switch between screens showing each metric and a screen showing three metrics, but neither screen shows all metrics. The device restarts frequently. Not sure why. The product looks cheap. This is a simple LED screen made out of cheap looking plastic (not metal as it might seem). It seems there was a bead inside that made a noise when I turned it in my hands. The product is designed and made in China and has about the same level of quality. The thermometer seems to be inaccurate, a little high. I compared it to two other thermometers in my house and it was consistently about 5 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the others. In this price range, I expect the software to run without major problems and offer added value. A similar Wirecutter-recommended product, the Temptop M10, is half the price ($80 vs. $160-200 for a laser egg), but lacks an iPhone app or internet connection. If the software doesn't add value (historical data graphs), then it's not worth the extra price. I'll send it back and buy something cheaper.
