Review on Screwdriver Organizer and Charging Station for Efficient Storage by Kevin Johnson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to assemble, durable and suitable for time and cost

I bought this unit and the one with a drawer https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089SQBHXZ (yes I have too many small power tools). Construction: They are made from 5" 8" solid reclaimed wood. There are many small prongs that transform smaller timbers into larger ones. This is the same process that IKEA has been using with great success for years. 5/8" gives you more strength than you could get from 1/2" plywood. All holes are pre-drilled and countersunk. The tree is already done, so you don't have to worry about it. There are three screw sizes, wood mounting screws have a flat head for clean construction and will not pull through the wood. Assembling: Lay out all parts by size. Look at them, they all have holes. The screws come from the side of the countersink. The only difficulty is that the two outer support bars are flush with the front, you need to make sure they are positioned correctly. The mounting screws come in two lengths, I disassembled mine to make it easier to get the right one. But the difference in length is not that big, so longer ones can be used in most places. I used my cordless screwdriver to assemble it, it took less than 30 minutes from unboxing to hanging on the wall. There is a tip about the need for holes on 16 inch centers. The chances of actually finding studs in most prefab garages are slim, so wallboard anchors are the best compromise. You probably have a drill, you can always drill holes in the back. Your problem may be that the device is only 18 inches wide between the posts and mounts on a stud where you please. I have French slats on my walls, I cut out slats for the top and bottom and used them for hanging. Cost: At $70 I could make one out of a sheet of plywood for less. But in less than an hour I assembled two of them, hung them on the wall and loaded them with tools. With the current goal of "cleaning up this mess so I can build something I want," the cost tradeoff is perfectly acceptable. Usability: OK, I have a collection of suitable cordless tools. Some of the corded tools are suitable, such as B. a jigsaw hanging on a guide plate. The angle grinder almost fitted, the slot was about 1/16" too small. But using an angle grinder I removed the edge in 60 seconds and it fitted. A good sized drawer for storing various items. Electrical outlet so that it easy to take it out, sort things and put them back in. All in all I would recommend these and unless you have a Norm Abrams stop no one will bother to buy and build them.

Pros
  • upgrade Large storage space: five slots for hanging drills, two-tier storage space for charging tools and power tools, 11 slots for screwdrivers, 19 slots for drills, can meet the needs of most enthusiasts.
Cons
  • Slightly dented
