I bought one of these Revain glasses used, but the prism in one eyepiece was misaligned. I see this issue has been mentioned in other reviews. I was able to return them with no problems and bought a pair in MINT condition. Everything was perfect this time. Very pretty and sharp. I have a trip to Costa Rica ahead of me so I wanted a pair that would allow me to see things in the forest. So at the top of the tree, not on Mars. It's 12-25. 12x magnification, and 12x is fine for what I need. If you get too much magnification, you'll have a hard time keeping the image stable and you'll be so magnified that it's difficult to find what you're looking for. I also need something waterproof, lightweight and something that works well in low light conditions. The 25 in the title is the size of the lens. More means they let in more light. Larger lenses are good, but increase size and weight. I hate to suggest "showroom" but you might want to go to REI and find out what's right for your hands, what weight you want, etc. It's difficult to choose binoculars online. But if you decide to travel as a small couple, these are the guys you need.
