As of 09/15/2021, this cable requires you to download a driver (CD does not work, and the Prolific driver is not suitable for this at all). I got it working SIMPLY by getting the "CH341SER.ZIP" driver from wch-ic dot com. Look at the picture of the computer desktop, it will show you everything you need. wch-ic site for the driver, device manager to see which com port the driver installed your cable on, chirp software to communicate with your radio. Download the driver, unzip, click EXE, click install on the small gray screen that appears. Plug in the cable, then turn on the radio and CHIRP software. Go to Device Manager and see what COM port you used, mine was "COM3". .Click "download to radio" in the tweet and enter "COM#", select the manufacturer and select the radio model. Then you start choosing things, create channels with import from source and get what you want, then import it to radio. Don't use the small CD they give you. Don't try to use the Prolific driver. Do it this way and it takes about 3 minutes. I used a newly received Baofeng GT-5R.
