Thank you internet and thank you Revain for saving me hundreds! My local shop and dealer BOTH wanted to replace my master cylinder when my "brake" warning light stayed on. NO, all you need is this new float switch and cover - twenty-three dollars and five minutes to reconnect the wires. Aside from keeping brake fluid from getting into the engine bay or onto the paint, it was dead simple. Solution +, and for the price, it's worth trying even if you're not 100% sure the lid is the problem. I used a multimeter to check for continuity and my old cap/switch seemed to open/close when needed, but the resistance was far away - it brought everything back to 100%.
