🔧 Dorman 42038 Brake Master Cylinder Cap for Acura/Honda Models: Compatible and Reliable Review

I had a brake light on in cold weather even though the brake was off. Strangely, replacing the master cylinder cover solved the problem. Simple solution!

Worked on a 2000 Honda CRV. Fits tight. The old one often triggered the BRAKE on the dash, especially when it was cold outside I thought so. Unfortunately, replacing the old cover with a new one didn't solve the BRAKE light issue.

Fits perfectly on my 2001 CR-V master cylinder and fixes a long standing problem with the BRAKE LIGHT. When the problem started I only saw the "Brake" indicator on freezing cold mornings, it disappeared when driving/braking. But after a while I saw the ad on a hot summer morning. Replacing the existing cap with this + siphoning the fluid out of the cylinder with turkey putty and replacing it with genuine Honda brake fluid finally solved the problem. I couldn't be happier.

Thank you internet and thank you Revain for saving me hundreds! My local shop and dealer BOTH wanted to replace my master cylinder when my "brake" warning light stayed on. NO, all you need is this new float switch and cover - twenty-three dollars and five minutes to reconnect the wires. Aside from keeping brake fluid from getting into the engine bay or onto the paint, it was dead simple. The cap looks the same as the OEM but is a little tight. It took me more trouble to snap it into place than I would have liked. The tank is plastic, as is the lid, so it doesn't need to be removed/broken often. It has already become easier to fix when using it. The picture of the cover on the master cylinder is new.
