I have a family member who is going through a divorce which is an endless madness that has her totally in love with crazy stuff for some reason. Lights are one of those quirky things, and since they live in the desert, solar powered lanterns seemed like the perfect gift to buy me a few minutes of sanity. I'm afraid I'm not being too picky these days, but based on how my phone's camera captured these lights in an area lit by an overwhelming spotlight, I'd say the photos on the store page are pretty accurate (although it's may require a DSLR and low lighting to achieve the same brightness/glow). the desert sun and your mileage may vary. The on/off button and the mode button to toggle between patterns and steady light are on a small solar panel that sticks into the ground, so I'd suggest putting it in a flower pot or some other elevated spot. if possible. If you're looking for inexpensive, beautiful lights and live somewhere with enough sun to power them, this is a great option. Especially if you want to light something far away from the socket. Sometimes I still look at them (dimmed but still) at 3-4am so they last a lot longer on one charge than I expected and the solar panel is set and forgotten. I'm just not sure how long they will last, but replacing them for $9.99 is always an affordable option.
