Really strong lock but the weight and short length make it impractical for my use

Review: **PENTAGON Bike Key Chain Wrench - Magnetic Patented Gold Heavy Duty Secure Anti-Theft Lock for Bikes E-Bikes Scooters & Motorbikes - Maximum Security Master Tool Bike Guard (90cm)** I really wanted to love this lock, but there are a couple of issues that make it really impractical, at least for my use. First, it's really short. You must be able to move the frame of the bike less than a foot away from what you are locking in order to be able to lock it. And if you want to bypass your front wheel and frame, you better get close to the fixed element you are binding to. Also, this lock is very heavy โ€“ like VERY heavy. It weighs almost 6 pounds and isn't very big. You don't want to ride with that thing around your neck or in your backpack. At least don't drive long. That's a beast. On the plus side, that weight makes it very safe. Someone has to be really dedicated and have powerful tools to cut this thing. And the fabric cover protects the chain from scratches on the bicycle frame or the like. The magnetic aspect of the lock makes it easy to close as the magnets prevent it from falling out when you turn the key. I discussed exactly how to rate this lock and decided that shooting down the stars for a short range would be unfair. That's as long as they advertise (about 35 inches) but be aware that this does NOT mean your frame will be locked 17.5 inches apart - considering how the ends fit together and the fact that it loses a few inches. Going around objects you've shrunk to about 12 inches, if that works for your needs and situation it's a very good lock. Just don't underestimate the weight.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Some minor things
