Review on SABAJ A20a: Powerful Balanced Stereo Power Amplifier with Infineon MA12070 Chip Hi-Fi Class D Amp, 150W x 2Ω, XLR RCA Inputs, Remote Control - Ideal for Home Speakers by Michael Altayeb

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The amplifier is fine, high-pitched roar in the speakers.

I bought this to replace the SMSL DA-9 which had wild DC offset swings but sounded fine. I just couldn't trust the power supply. The A20a sounded a little dirtier, but from what I understand it takes about a week of burn through before it opens clean and gets a little louder. I didn't have that experience with the DA-9 - it sounded good out of the box. The reason for the 3 stars is that the A20a's power supply is very loud through the speakers. With just the amp and speakers hooked up (no DAC or computer hooked up) and then cranking the volume up, I start hearing a howl at -10. When I get to zero, it gets really loud. For those of us who want to keep the amp volume high but use the preamp to control the overall volume, this is disappointing. This probably won't be a problem for those wanting to use an amplifier for a near field system, but if it's being used to power speakers to fill a room it will be a problem. the same result. Unfortunately this is going back and I will probably order the SMSL AO200.
