I had minor toe surgery for an ingrown toenail, one on each big toe. The newly grown nail was completely wrong and started dying but did not fall off. They just hardened, thickened and hung down at very uncomfortable angles. Traditional nail clippers did nothing, other "heavy duty" nail clippers did nothing. I've just put up with the fact that they're not going anywhere without another procedure to remove them. I bought these years later as a last resort because the new hobby was putting pressure on uneven nails and hurting me. You cut them off. Not only are they sharp enough, the jaws open a lot wider than other similar products, and that's why they can bypass those stupid things that are barely shaped like human nails at the moment. I manage to trim enough that my nails, while still dead, are now of a normal shape and length that doesn't cause any discomfort. If they worked for me, they will work for you.
